Auto Insurance Coverage : Collision and Comprehensive Coverage

If you require insurance coverage that will pay for repairs or replace your car if it is stolen or damaged, you will need collision or comprehensive insurance coverage. Both collision and comprehensive coverage, if selected, are provided regardless of fault. When you select theses coverages you will also select a deductible that you pay out of pocket to share in the risk. Your insurance company pays for the remaining damage up to the limits you select.

Collision Coverage: When you purchase Collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damage to your car when you collide with another vehicle or object. If you have an covered accident with another car, a pole or another inanimate object, Collision coverage will apply.

Comprehensive Coverage: When you purchase Comprehensive coverage your insurance company pays for damage to your car when it is cuased by a covered-event other than a collision, such as fire, theft or vandalism. If your auto is burned or stolen, Comprehensive coverage will apply.
